Life Science is a phenomenal way to get an overview of the different aspects of the living creatures and plants that God created and put on this earth. The text introduces plant features and flower families. It also builds upon the systems of the body and how all these systems work together to help our bodies function. It teaches about marsupials and other mammals; flight motions of birds; types of scales on fish; dinosaurs and similar types of reptiles; and the anatomy of amphibians. Included to read are discussions about the helpful aspects of insects, classifications within microbiology, and functions of forests. Features incorporated: Section and Chapter Reviews, bold terms (vocab), over 250 labeled pictures and charts, and prompts for investigations and demonstrations to show how all of these living elements work together within God’s wonderful world.

Students are given an outline of course work required to complete as school work each week, which includes the student correcting and grading work that is turned in for review.
Students also utilize a journal for their lab and some activity work. All work is kept organized and together in their notebook, which is a vital component of the course work.
This and more are detailed at our Required Orientation.
Please note that Schoology is the platform used for assignments and communication between the teacher and student, so access to a computer and printer are essential to this class.

The text is engaging and the labs re-enforce what is presented. Labs are fun and all about team activities. Their success is based on participation, so since our labs are 2 hours, the only way to get the most out of our time is for every student to come excited, prepared, and with a team-minded attitude. To do this, ALL students are required to fulfill their responsibilities and be prepared for each lab in order to stay enrolled in the class.
Work is required to be organized in the manner outlined at Orientation and is part of the course evaluation. Grading focuses on following directions and on-time full completion of assignments in order to help teach a valuable life skill that will also assist students in their future academics.
Looking forward to our exciting adventure as we do this together!

TIME COMMITMENT:
Each student may have different time commitments needed to complete the work, based on their particular skill set. It generally takes six weeks to fall into a routine and determine the time allotment needed for your student to do their best in this course.
This is one of the many things addressed at our Orientation.
A higher level of accountability is incorporated into the course. To maintain enrollment, students must follow through on weekly assignments. A vital component of the course grade evaluation is following instructions and keeping work organized. It begins at the required Student & Parent Orientation. Our orientation is one week prior to classes starting and is 2 to 2.5 hours, depending on the class and is typically held on the same day and at the same location as classes are scheduled. This will be confirmed and a reminder sent.
Reminder: Schoology is the platform used for assignments and communication between the teacher and student, so access to a computer and printer are essential to this class.
